2017 GIPPSLAND WINE COMPANY CABERNET SAUVIGNON

2017 GIPPSLAND WINE COMPANY CABERNET SAUVIGNON

35.00

Region: South Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. A cool climate region, planted on the rolling green hills some 50 metres above sea level, strongly maritime influenced by Westernport Bay and the Bass Coast in the most southerly region of Victoria.

Vineyard: Loch Village Vineyard. Soil type: Yellow and dark loam over volcanic clays.

Notes: The 2017 is a highly aromatic, cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon that is both elegant and powerful. Violets and frangipani, sage and cedarwood with cassis aromas waft from the glass. On the palate, there are fleshier blackcurrant and blackberry characters, with layers of fresh mint, fennel, artichoke, Dutch salted liquorice and charred brisket. It is silky, supple, with fine acidity and well-integrated tobacco leaf French oak notes.

Food matches: Creamy sheep’s milk blue cheese (Roquefort or Prom Country Venus Blue), roast lamb with mint sauce, moussaka, beef short rib or smoked brisket. Label: Brown Hare.

Awards: Gippsland Wine Show 2018 (Class 9) Bronze Medal.
